When you are feeling broken, be a friend to someone else.
Life is difficult at times and we all feel broken in our own ways.
These words, with one change, were penned by Robert Frost in 1922, the opening line of one of America’s most revered and recited poems, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.”
And on New Year’s Day, they entered the public domain, along with a huge cache of other long-copyrighted material. For the first time, we and anyone else can reproduce Frost’s iconic 1923 work without permission or restriction.
And so we have:
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the y...
Life is crazy
And totally unpredictable...
It's going to push you over,
Kick you while you're down,
And hit you when you try to get back up.
Not everything can beat you.
Things are going to change you,
But you get to choose which ones you let change you.
Listen to your heart,
Follow your dreams,
And let no one tell you what you're capable of.
Push the limits,
Bend the rules,
And enjoy every minute of it.
Laugh at everything.
Live for as long as you can.
But trust none.
Believe in yourself,
And never lose faith in others.
Settle for nothing but only the best,
And give 110% in everything you do.
Live on the edge,
Yet stay safe,
And cherish every moment of it.

Wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the Big Apple.
This is by far my favorite time of year because of all the giving that takes place and the joy that is brought to the lives of so many around the world.
Best wishes for 2018!
It's truly amazing to be back in Spain where my family used to live.
It had been two years since we came to visit, but it seems as if we were here sitting out late at night talking with friends and family yesterday.
Time flies and memories have no expiration date.
A letter from Spain,
I just found out today that one of my close friends is going to need surgery soon to remove a tumor. Luckily it is only benign, but it is still a scary situation.
I hope everything goes well and I can't wait to play soccer again with him.
Good luck Mo.
Everyone seems to hate stress.
It can come from work, school, or social reasons; maybe even self-imposed.
My question is ... what's wrong with a little stress?
Nothing! Feeling the pressure to perform well or impress those around you helps create the best version of yourself. Embrace being stressed, it can be beneficial!
Just some thoughts as I am stressed about exams tomorrow.
Thanks for adding me as a pen pal. Looking forward to exchanging letters with you!
P.S.: Sorry for a terrible signature. I still haven't figured out how to do it properly.
It just so happens that favorite movie was on TV last night! There has never been a time in my life where I refused to watch Step Brothers. I have probably seen it 200 times and very scene in the movie still makes me laugh uncontrollably.
When you need a break from studying or you're feeling down, just throw on Step Brothers and I guarantee it will make you happy.
As I pack my things for college I realize the amazing opportunity I have to start of the new year on the right foot. I hope to form new habits so I can stay ahead in all my classes, while also enjoying myself in the great city of Boston.
I am thankful that my parents, teachers, and friends have helped me get to where I am today. Having the full support of those closest to me gives me confidence that I will do my best.
In 5 simple sentences I will try to describe this past year, and will 5 more I will try to set a foundation for this coming year.
I SAW parts of the world that I had never seen before (Australia/Asia).
I MADE new friends while studying abroad.
I TRIED being organized.
I LEARNED how much my family means to me.
I WONDERED how I would be able to live on my own.
I WILL challenge myself with academics at Northeastern University.
I WON'T take anything in my life for granted.
I WANT to impact the lives of others.
I NEED a job.
I HOPE to grow as an individual in all aspects of life.
Happy New Years to everyone!
Dear Blake B,
First of all, I would like to thank you for adding me as a pen-pal.
Secondly, I wish you a very Happy New Year Merry Christmas (in advance)! May your gifts be spiritual in nature, this time, and may they be uplifting and elevating!
Thirdly, just curious: The 'B' in your surname stands for Bartkiewicz? And thus, I ask, are you Drew sir's son/relative?
(I apologise for the impertinence.)
Dear Blake B,
Hello there Blake, thank you for adding me as your penpal. It's lovely to meet you. I hope we can talk and hopefully get close.
Please write me back if you can.
This is my favorite time of the year!
Thank you for bringing so much joy and hope to this sometimes sad world.
With everything that we go through on a daily basis, you are an beacon of light for those in a dark place.
You don't just bring gifts, but you bring people together and that is the greatest gift of all.
I believe in you the same way that believe in everyone else regardless of where they come from or what they believe in.
Merry Christmas to you and to everyone reading this letter.
Estamos muy contentos de poder haber disfrutado de tu compañía en Bali. Ha sido increíble.
Este año he disfrutado mucho contigo en Madrid y también aquí.
Muchas gracias por querer siempre estar con nosotros. Nunca olvidaré tu viaje a Bali.
Esperamos poder repetir.
Sin duda el mundo es un pañuelo.
Who else is excited to write letters to their favorite MLB players??
The partnership with the Major League Baseball Players Association now allows us to send meaningful letters directly to our role models and possibly even get one back!! How cool is that?!
I hope I can get a signed letter from a Yankees player since I am such a huge fan :)
What an amazing four months it's been! You have given me everything you've had to offer and I've done my best to take full advantage of the studying abroad experience.
Your restaurants, your walkable streets, your stunning views, and your great people are what make me want to come back one day.
You will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Until next time...
To my biggest role model... Cristiano Ronaldo!
I first want to let you know how amazing I think you are as an athlete, but also as a person. Your dedication and work ethic are something that I admire and try to emulate. While you clearly are naturally gifted, it is your determination to be the absolute best that sets you apart from everyone else.
I am beyond happy to hear about the contract extension that you signed at Real Madrid (my favorite club). I get the privilege of watching you play another 5 season with Los Blancos.
Good luck to you the rest of this season and in the ones to come as well. Win another Champions League for us!!
Dani y Gigi.
Just wanted to say hello and that I hope all is well down under.
We miss you but know you are growing up and away. Work hard and take that initiative like I always told you.
There is nothing like watching great soccer in Soho with a lovely girl. Life is good.
Enjoy memorable moments when you can.
So far the Euro2016 soccer tournament has been awesome! As an avid soccer fan, it's perfect to have 3 games a day where the best players in Europe compete.
Any writers or soccer fans that want to talk about it please write me!
Graduating high school has to be one best moments of my life. All the hard work and countless hours that were spent working (not sleeping) finally paid off. I have no doubt that I will miss all the people I met and all the memories I made at Avon Old Farms. Those three years were the best of my life, but I'm anxious to see what the future holds at Northeastern. I'm ready to face my next challenges and enjoy my next accomplishments
Today I realize the fact that my younger brother is going to be driving. He passed his permit test and is now legal to drive, which frankly I was not ready for! To me he is still my younger brother and imagining him on the road is a scary thought. I actually think he might be a better driver then me!
Happy 16th birthday Dane. Many more!
Easter is one of my favorite holidays because it is about redemption and new beginnings. We all are going to get knocked down and challenged in life, but Jesus showed us that anything is possible and we can always overcome the odds to beat the struggles.
It is important for me to be with family during this holiday because they are the ones that support us most when we encounter those obstacles. We can each be our of version of Jesus, and we all need our disciples to lean on for help.
Having a mother who is from Spain, having lived in Spain, and traveled across Europe... I have realized the importance and the value of experiencing other cultures.
Sometimes we can get stuck in our daily routine and forget that there 7 billion other people in this world, many of whom live very different lives.
Go out and experience the world. Be open to the ideas and cultures of others. Leave your mark where ever you go.
