because you must.
There is no sense
in shaking the tree
when there are no fruits
for you to catch.

You asked me
"Who is Allah"
as though you never saw
I looked upwards and said:
"He is the one who paints
the sky in various colors.
Who draws the sun and the moon
wherever and whenever He wants.
The One who dabs them
together with the stars
to perfect constellations."
"He is Al-Hasib. The Sufficient
The One Who takes account
of the galaxy and you."

It was my parents
who in the depth of my grief
after I saw my sins
written on my palms
and was too ashamed to speak,
didn't ask me
what I have done wrong
or threatened that
I might go to hell.
"Allah is Merciful, Forgiving"
they just said
and opened their arms for me
as if it were the gate to paradise
I swear in that moment
I have understood
that my parents gave birth to me
not only once.
Narrated Abu Hurairah RA: I heard Allahs Messenger ﷺ saying, If the prayer is started do not run for it but just walk for it calmly and pray whatever you get, and complete whatever is missed.

Listen patiently to your mother
Whenever she addresses you.
For there might come a time
when you would wish
to just hear that again.

Push your soul towards Allah until one day, your soul pushes you. Drag your feet to the prayer mat, until one day your heart drags you. Force yourself to make dua, until one day your tears force you. Do not let the silence of the graveyards fool you for there are people being punished for the sins they committed in the world even though they were warned about the punishment of the grave several times. These are the same people wishing that they could be sent back to Earth just so they can worship Allah once more.

Sometimes you seek fame or attention, and for that very reason Allah withholds it from you. But it may be that when you solely seek His pleasure, Allah will raise your mention.
