Skylark Challenge #135

Within me,
I never knew,
The gift so precious,
A seed within an acorn
Yet a hidden storm brews,
Blackness before the light,
Embracing anguish,
I greet you,
Crying out,
Hearts beat as one,
Pink to red,
Rivers of being
Flowing bright,
Upon the waters,
A tiny soul released,
From pain to delight,
I cradle you
To my breast,
You suckle life,
Child of my being,
A sprouting seed,
Of my spirit,
Cherished life given,
We are two now,
Hearts beating separate,
A song I will always know,
When we were One.

Waking lunar,
Carry me into the night
A lucid adventure,
Under a spinning starry sky
Darkness above the light.

Nostalgia, the infinite river,
Taunting me to soar,
To reach out and smile,
Within blending colors,
To be brave to explore.

Forgetting time,
The prisms of memory,
Penetrating and infectious,
Essence of Sandalwood,
Reveal the hidden treasury.

Here I am,
The balanced heart,
A cruel hallucination,
Between Earth and sky,
To smooth the broken glass,
Before all is torn apart.

Within the murky depths,
We invoke all that is contained,
To vanish within the surge,
Awaken!
Corruption comes again,
Just as it has above,
It has seeped into below,
The seed of knowledge,
And a greed for power,
Is an explosion of change,
Which is dazzling to all,
My world is vaporous,
Wavering silent,
Yet I sense angry whorls in the waves,
Strange and red about the sea,
I seek to escape it all,
As it burns into the eyes,
Ripples of mournful dreams,
And broken promises,
Heaving with brutality
Twist and roll,
In the echoing deep,
Like a lifeless Whale,
All lost souls,
Distorted and torturous,
In this endless fathom,
Forever more.

Dark is the Dream,
Blurring the lines,
Misunderstanding so much,
With the passage of Time,
As we played, we did not see,
That we are blind to the signs.

Forever we are connected,
As Brothers should be,
Remember, just remember,
You and Me,
Running in the fields,
Throwing rocks,
Fighting invisible enemies,
The Knights in the Tower,
Adventures beyond our sight.

Yet time continues,
Blurring the lines,
Spring has ended,
As so much has been forgotten,
Washed out by strife, and fear,
Be patient,
Dear brother,
For I am still here,
Waiting in the field.

Even at the edge of the world,
Forget not,
The adventure continues,
As the Wind ch...

The white lines blur,
As my thoughts are shattered,
In the moonlight,
The green light keeps me going,
Leaving everything behind me,
Doubt dances with the darkness,
My eyes grasps the only life,
The flashing "WALK" sign burns,
A command in my brain,
Leaving everything behind me,
The white lines blur.

My hands lifted up,
With the shards of my heart,
Stabbing the deception,
Of the love of one man,
My spirit flickers,
A flame endless,
With hope and strength,
Love that is love,
So true and free,
Opposite of your destruction,
A wounded core,
Knitting with tears and times,
To be stronger,
Made of soul and steel.

Eyes high,
Beyond the hidden stars,
To glimpse the open dreams,
My smile slipping in between
The rocky rings of Saturn,
Where my Earth bound feet,
Will never walk,
Yet my soul explores,
Where my bright eyes adventure,
Touching the countless moons
With my meager mortal coil.

With a smile,
She will dice, chop and fillet,
A silver flash of her knife,
Such a violent Ballet,

Cutting those vegetables,
So precisely minced,
That her stunning accuracy,
Will make you wince,

The kitchen is her stronghold,
Baking and blending all types of food,
She is the Duchess of her scullery,
DO NOT tempted her mood,

With complaints or petty issues,
As her temper is quite short,
You might be staring down her knife,
Without even a verbal retort,

She is wicked with blade,
It is sharp as her smile,
Be cautious, value your life,
If it is anything worth while.

With dawn breaking,
The sweet songs of the birds,
Weave their delicate threads,
As the sun touches green,
Emerald spears break the ground,
Soon to be blossoms of color,
The bare trees are budding slowly,
With the hope of leaves
As Winter is beginning his hibernation,
Spring is awakening,
With each promising day.

Filled with Dreams,
So many possibilities,
With you,
I found completion
Hope for a future,
Yet issues, you held tight,
Knife of words,
Painfully cutting,
Into my tender heart,
It was in your arms,
I thought I was safe,
As You always spoke of,
Honor,
Something I always trusted
Until your lies,
Hidden to most,
Never disturbing,
The thin dust of truth,
Cut my soul deep,
Letting out the Love,
As the pain seeped in,
All the issues, you hold tight,
Make you dark instead of light

Writing can be hard.

Especially when it expresses feelings that I would rather forget. Uplifting of my heart then plunging it into darkness. How my breath still catches in my throat at the thought of him. And then suddenly turns to ash, when I allow myself to go deeper into the pain of loss.

My words say so much, that many people don't see or they don't care about a meek, mousy looking woman. Yet in my silence, vast storms of emotions bloom. A Woman with a paintbrush of many colors.

Writing has always been of self expression. How my feelings and words blend together like music and paint, in which I am the only artist. Capturing delicate moments in my life. Ones filled with joy, that ...

Strangely cold within my hand,
My senses dulled,
Nothing went as planned,
Yet I still hang on.

The heaviness of my body,
Weighs me down,
Kneeling in the dirt,
My soul starts to drown.

In the moonlight,
The knife gleams,
Cutting into the night
As the shadows dance.

The Darkness is restless,
Blood pumping in my heart,
Whispering, "No one is safe",
Against my evil counterpart.

Closing my haunted eyes
Balancing what is disturbing,
Yet, nothing could disguise,
The Evil that was lurking.

Blood flowed as a river,
My soul welcoming Death,
"My season has ended",
Crying with my last breath.

Night blurs into the morning,
Darkness fades into color,
I struggle against an invisible chain,
To open my eyes to the new day,
Saying goodbye to peaceful dark
Light shines beyond the fog,
Beckoning to step,
Chased by mournful dogs,
Biting my heels,
Staggering,
I walk numbly foward,
I am silently waiting,
Not knowing,
Hoping,
Paused at the crossroads,
Gazing at my dreams,
Fluttering just beyond my reach,
Reality numbs me,
As I watch them fly away,
Lost in the bright daylight,
I stumble,
Hesitate
Shifting,
Peeling off old layers
Day continues,
Vulnerable and exposed,
I am wavering,
Yet I am still seeking,
New fragments,
While the World changes

In the fluttering snowflakes,
The wind kisses my face,
As I remember special things,
A wonderful place,
Where my love was a gift.

Sipping hot coffee in the cold,
I drift into the snowy mist,
Memories flow like a river,
Your smile, and our first kiss,
My heart starting to crack agsin.

All the happiness slips away,
And my hidden tears fall,
Mixed with snowflakes and wind,
Steeling my soul from the downfall
Once again becoming a shell.

Today has been a struggle. So many things in motion that I have no control of. It is hard to step back and just allow life to flow. There are so many changes in my life, that I feel inadequate about my ability to shoulder most of it.

I lost my best friend when I cut the toxic relationship from my life. Something he wanted any way. After 7 years, my heart couldn't filter out the bad and focus on the good. My love wasn't good enough for him, regardless what I did. It didn't help that he played my heart all the time either.  Six months later, I realize I left him in a better state then I found him in. I gave 110% and it didn't matter to him. It hurts that I mean nothing to someone who means th...

With a deep sigh,
I struugle to say,
All the things of heart,
All endings,  never a start,
To express the deepness of my soul.

My eyes high,
I will not cry,
To reveal what is inside,
Countless times I have tried,
To give you all that I am.

My shattered heart exposed,
A scarred soul inclosed,
Struggling to heal,
And forget the whole ordeal,
Hoping to find a future without you.

Now I just hope,
Beyond the emotional tightrope,
You can truly see,
With clear accuracy,
I loved you more than one life could give.

On the edge of sleep,
My heart opens up,
Hidden locked doors,
Holding memories of you,
On the edge of sleep,
I forget that we are over,
And I smile, my heart content.
Until I wake up, and my heart breaks all over again.

Cradle my heart,
So shattered,
Do not let the tiny shards,
Filter through your fingers,
Like Ocean kissed sand.

Cradle my heart,
Bleeding so red,
By countless wounds,
Inflicted by careless people,
Touching my everyday life.

Cradle my heart,
Helping me heal,
All the things I can not.
Remind me that all pain ends,
And each day is new.

Finish the story.
And tag your letter 'storytime'.
By Martha Lucia, PO# 55555

“They were sitting around the fire together. Julie was telling one scary story after the other. Yet nobody was scared. Everyone was laughing and have a great time, until Michael spoke.

“Remember the night Thomas vanished?”

All laughed died. Echoing into the darkness around them like a ghost. A solitary gasp was drowned out by the crackling of the burning fire. All eyes were gazing upon Michael. His head bowed, his eyes focusing on his worn out sneakers. The burning fire and the chorus of crickets was the only sounds heard. Just silence. After what seemed to be endless minutes, a voice cracked through ...

She looked in the mirror,
Eyes blazing bright,
Yet nothing could hide,
The matted, metallic reflection,
Tilting her head slightly,
She wore the mask well,
Blushing cheeks,
Rosy lips,
Bright eyes,
All gleaming with life,
Laughter and a smile,
Always hiding the truth,
She was cold,
She was heartless,
Hollow inside,
A deception spanning years,
Cutting down men in her wake,
A fake life,
Swimming strongly,
In a shallow puddle,
Smiling, her thoughts computed,
"This program is,"
Her head twitched unnaturally,
"Active."

She walks along numb,
Dulled eyes blinking,
Her hand touching,
A ragged, gaping hole,
Within lies a hidden heart,
Slightly metallic,
Broken and battered,
Rusted from countless tears,
Moving slower,
A faint harmonic,
Gleaming,
Painful beat,
Yet it lies cold,
So very cold,
All her emotions leaked out,
Pitch black lie oil,
A life now heartless,
The mysterious spark darkened,
Joy of life has fled,
In fear,
In pain,
Such a loss,
To move through life without life,
A causality of love and deception.

He had my attention,
Cutting my surroundings away,
With his intriguing smile
and his deep, metallic gray eyes,
Gleaming bright from a world
I had never seen,
Yet yearned deeply for,
Soon I was trapped, cold,
In his sly clutches,
Filled with promises,
Ideas,
Dreams,
Hopes,
Only to find the truth,
He cut me deep,
Deadlier than poison,
Left me heartless,
Stripped of my soul,
With his callous deception.

In the darkness,
I forget,
Until I open my eyes,
And remember. . .
Remember everything,
The eye opening nature hikes,
Watching the stars,
Late night deep conversations,
Beside blazing campfires,
Sweet nights within your arms,
Watching the Blood Moon along the treeline,
Canoeing on the calm river,
And witnessing the Sun go dark,
All things I want to forget,
Forgetting my soul mate,
Who chose to adventure without me.
Losing my best friend,
So in the darkness, I lay,
To forget.

My heart sings out a silent song,
No longer heard with love,
Its melody played by another,
But now an icy cold heart, cut deep.
Now I drift aimlessly into the  future,
Seeking only myself,
Healing my soul,
Until I might hear that silent song again within someone else.
