WRITING TOPIC | TAKE OVER TOMORROW

lettrists, let's get real.

Tomorrow is the day you'll clean your room, do the dishes, study for that Algebra test, work on your history project, start exercising, and finally memorize the entire theme song to Dawson's Creek... ok maybe not the last one. But "tomorrow" is that day.

Well let's make it TODAY.

Write about all the things you've been putting off till "tomorrow" and tell us why you'll get them done today. Tag your letter "TOT."

Because tomorrow is just another excuse not to make today the day!

THE BATTLE OF LUCK & FORTUNE

Do you ascribe to the idea that you make your own luck? Are you a hard-nosed Type-A personality that doesn't need help from the cosmic forces above?

Maybe you believe that it is better to be lucky than good? That for some people, good fortune falls in their lap, it doesn't have to be so black & white, you can fall somewhere in between.

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, write an open letter discussing your thoughts on the battle of luck and fortune. Tell us what forces you believe to be at play if any at all. Tag your letter "luck."

Happy writing lettrist!

WRITE ME A HOME

Picture the perfect palace, a towering embattlement of human achievement, with luxurious balconies, fanciful hallways, and ceilings that extend to the heavens.

Now picture a quiet little cottage, set on a river, three rooms and an open kitchen that faces a breathtaking view. Perfect for lovers and old friends.

There are many types of "homes". Here is your chance, detail a home with your words.

Write an open letter describing your ideal home, current home, or dream home. Tag your letter "home”.

Hello again,

sorry for the late reply. Thank you for getting back to me about my suggestion. I would absolutely love if we made it a topic for longer than a day / for the whole week or however long you can keep it going depending on how many people respond.
so when I was reading your letter you actually gave me an idea for what to call it... "State Of Sensitivity" putting both of our minds together!!! What do you think?!

Let me know what you will need me to do to help get this started / going and thank you again for this opportunity!!

WRITE LIKE SEUSS

If you knew trees lived life like dogs that growl,
I'd bet you'd know why wind makes them howl.
No snarl for branch, it's more like a shake,
If a tree could bark,
Well it already does, for goodness sake.

Hi there,

For a while now, I've been wanting to further my "writing prowess" so to speak but I won't lie, I am struggling a little. I wanted to deviate away from the poetry I am doing and maybe compose a short story, with your help if you don't mind. If I have a really thought provoking subject, I know it would go a long way to helping me get to that point.

Also in terms of writing techniques and style, it would be great if you could point me in the direction of formats I could play around with.

I understand you're very busy, but I do think a collaboration of sorts would be fantastic to do.

Many thanks,
TPE

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE

lettrs land,

We are starting a new feed to ignite friendly debate. The title of this feed "What Is The Difference," prompts you to take concepts that on the surface seem different, but in depth, are possibly similar... or not.

To kick things off, what is the difference between a lover and someone you love?

Write an open letter responding to this question and start your letter with "The difference is..." or "The difference is not..." I leave that up to you.

Tag your letter "WTD" to populate the feed.

Happy writing!

The difference is that with the lover alone is wanting, it is only attraction, chemistry, just a game, a hobby, a physical pleasure instead someone you love is physical and emotional pleasure, is passion, are feelings involved, it hurts , happy, hurt, we think of that person, with the lover does not hurt, only sexually satisfied, there are only few thoughts, that's the difference.

You choose that you want to feel, you want to have.

Dear sir,
Your attention to my Lettr profile is extremely valuable to me.

My gratitude can be most appropriately expressed through my effort in writing you my very first Lettr.

I am certain that your simple effort of clicking the follow button on my profile has encouraged me to utilize this app on a regular basis.

Do keep up the great work.
Do feel free to write back, though I do not expect a response from a person as important and busy as yourself.
This Lettr is just a simple thank you,
for the inspiration and value you've added to my life today.

Best regards,
Anthony

Thank you for giving me these directions about this App!
Some days ago I was surfing on the Internet looking for an app by which I could speak and write in English to people from other countries and I found Lettrs. I guess in Italy it's quite unknown, in fact I've never heard about it until three days ago.
I think it's very useful to share thoughts in an appropriate way (using more than 150 characters!!) and to practise a foreign language (in case you are not a native english speaker like I am).

Best wishes,
Cecilia

This is tragic.
Sir, I loved that we now have the option of listening to our and others' write-ups. But the way it works, it broke my heart. Okay, just figuratively. I would love if we could have an option to actually upload our own voices expressing the write-ups, in a rather suitable tone. Any way, lettrs is definitely life.

Striking the written note,
Oops, waiting to strike the vocal one too soon.

REMEMBERING A LEGACY

There are times in the current events of the world when we at lettrs feel the need to reach out and commemorate a legacy or cause; today is one of those moments.

David Bowie lost his life yesterday at the age of 69. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family after an 18-month battle with cancer.

The man's legacy was extraordinary. His genre molding, gender bending, mind melting music kept kicking even in his last days, releasing a new album just days before his death.

He was an icon of British musical history and American pop music.

His final album "Blackstar", release last Friday was intended as a "parting gift" to the world, according to long-time ...

WEEKLY WRITING TOPIC | MY HOLIDAY

The holiday season has come and gone. Some of you maybe sad, savoring all the glittery goodness and some of you maybe glad, happy that the jolly times are over and real-life has come back with a kindness.

Since some semblance of the season still remains, let's see what you would do if you were in charge of creating a holiday. What would be the name of the holiday? What date would it land on? Would there be presents involved? Would there be rituals or traditions?

Be creative and forget everything you currently know about holidays in your country or culture, this is your chance to invent something new for the world.

WEEKLY WRITING TOPIC | YOUR PASSIONS

Coming close to the end of the year, we start to think about what pushed us through the ups and downs, and the personal passions that got us through those tough days.

This week we will reflect on those passions. Specifically two very different types: those in the physical world vs. those in the digital.

We want you lettrist in lettrs land to tell us which passions got you through and how they shaped your year.

Did you conquer your favorite RPG game? Did you make captain of your varsity soccer team? Did you setup an amazing home entertainment system for your family? Did you finally paint that shed in your backyard?

WEEKLY WRITING TOPIC | FAVORITE FUNNY FAMILY MEMBER

In the spirit of the holidays, we celebrate family above all else. These months remind us that family is what it's all about, and family is also a big part of the funny in our lives. Nobody knows us better, all the more reason why nobody can make us laugh harder.

For this week's topic, write about your favorite funny family member, that crazy aunt or hilarious uncle that has fond stories of days past. The cousins that always knew how to break the rules and make grandpa angry. Family is more than just those related, it extends to those friends that make our world a little brighter (and funnier).
